An educator and author, Richard brings a range of passions to his work—from archaeology and history to ethics, Indigenous cultures, cinema, and the public humanities. After earning his doctorate from New York University, he taught at LMU Munich as a Fulbright fellow and went on to receive seven NEH study grants, most recently a fellowship in Asian Studies at the College of the Cross. His forthcoming book, Speaking of the Dead: Mummies & Mysteries of Ancient Egypt (Blydyn Square Books in Spring 2027), combines gripping discovery tales with essays and interviews. Richard has certifications in yoga, meditation, and life coaching. He is an advocate for animals, nature, and Indigenous communities. He also creates nature and travel videos with his wife, Renah, and child, Inanna, capturing their hiking and exploration of ancient places.
